We supply and install a wide-range of smart EV Chargers throughout Uddingston, offering tethered and untethered models from brands such as Ohme, Hypervolt, Zappi, Zaptec, Tesla, SyncEV, Andersen, Zaptec, Project EV and more. Most modern electric vehicles use a Type 2 home charging connection, so you can choose between a range of chargers based on appearance, smart functions, cable arrangement and budget rather than being restricted to one particular make. We're asked regularly by customers about the specific type of plug required for their EV, or a soon-to-come EV, and they're quickly at ease when they see most are Type 2 these days, and this isn't anything to worry about anymore.
We can advise on chargers with app control, scheduled overnight charging, compatible low-rate EV tariffs, load management and solar charging capabilities. Every installation includes an assessment of the electrical supply, consumer unit and proposed charger location before the dedicated EV circuit is installed. Uddingston properties can have driveways and garages in a variety of positions, so we take into account the route from the electrical supply to the place where the vehicle is normally parked and position the charger accordingly.

Uddingston has a wide range of detached homes, semi-detached properties, bungalows, traditional houses, newer developments and family homes with private parking. Many are suitable for a dedicated home EV charger, but the installation still needs to be planned around the consumer unit, driveway position, garage access and the cleanest cable run.

We carried out an EV charger installation in Uddingston for a customer living in a ground-floor flat who was waiting to take delivery of a new BYD company car imminently. They were looking for a local installer who could provide a high-quality 7.4kW home EV charger installation quickly, while working around the property's limited off-street parking arrangements. During our survey, we found the property's consumer unit and main electrical supply were conveniently located on an exterior wall, making the electrical installation relatively straightforward. The main challenge was identifying the most practical charger position, as the property did not have a dedicated parking space and the vehicle would sometimes need to be parked in different locations nearby. After discussing the available options, we recommended installing an untethered Sync EV 7.4kW charger beside the customer's private entrance, allowing greater flexibility depending on where the vehicle was parked. We also supplied a 10-metre Type 2 charging cable, enabling the customer to comfortably reach different parking positions when required. As with any installation where charging arrangements extend beyond the property's boundary, we explained the customer's responsibilities for ensuring the charging cable is used safely and does not create a hazard for pedestrians or other road users. We discussed practical measures adopted by other EV owners in similar situations, including the use of a highly visible cable cover whenever the charging cable is in use. In this case, everything was within the rules and done to the correct standards - so the main point to make here, is that not every installation like this is the same - some investigation needs to be done to confirm the situation and circumstances at each specific site. The Sync EV charger was securely installed, fully tested and commissioned before handover. The customer had previously been told by several installers that they would not undertake this type of installation, but by carefully assessing the property's layout and discussing the available options, we were able to provide a practical home charging solution in time for the arrival of their new BYD. The finished installation gives the customer the convenience of reliable overnight home charging while maintaining the flexibility needed for their parking arrangements.
Uddingston drivers have public charging nearby around Old Mill Road Car Park, Uddingston Railway Station and Tesco on Bothwell Road. These points can be useful while shopping or commuting, but for homeowners with off-street parking, home charging is usually more predictable, more convenient and generally cheaper for regular EV use.
We come across a variety of different situations - but rest assured, we've seen them all, and can decipher from the initial survey what's required, what can be done, and how we can do it.

Uddingston homes often have private driveways, off-street parking, garage access or side routes around the house. We look at the normal parking position first, then plan the safest and neatest way to bring power to the charger.
Uddingston homeowners may have very different charging needs depending on whether the EV is used for commuting, family driving or occasional local journeys. A higher-mileage driver may benefit from a tethered smart charger with scheduled overnight charging, while a lower-mileage driver might prefer a simpler unit with a neat finish. We can also check whether the charger is suitable for EV tariffs, solar plans or future changes such as adding a second electric vehicle.
