Pollokshields has many large stone-built homes, sandstone villas, converted period properties, flats, townhouses and homes with long driveways or garage areas. These properties often need a more detailed EV charger installation plan, especially where the charger is required away from the main electrical area or where the cable run needs to be discreet and sympathetic to the building.

Pollokshields drivers can access public charging around Shields Road, Pollokshaws Road and nearby Southside charging locations, but many customers prefer not to rely on public chargers every week. For larger stone-built homes, driveways or garage parking, a home EV charger gives a more convenient and cost-effective way to charge from the property.

A customer in Pollokshields had a large Victorian stone-built home with thick walls and a longer distance between the main house and the garages at the rear of the property. They wanted an EV charger installed on the garage wall so they could charge their vehicles at the top of the driveway, close to where they normally parked. We first assessed the existing mini consumer unit in the garage, but found the existing 4mm armoured cable was not suitable for the EV charger requirements. Instead, we planned a new route from the main electrical area inside the property, concealed the cable behind a wall, then routed it externally for over 20 metres around the lower perimeter of the house. The cable was then terminated into a new dedicated mini EV consumer unit in the garage, and a Zaptec Go charger was installed exactly where the customer wanted it. The finished installation was neat, discreet and in keeping with the property, giving the customer a practical overnight charging setup and reducing their reliance on public charging.
We come across a variety of different situations - but rest assured, we've seen them all, and can decipher from the initial survey what's required, what can be done, and how we can do it.

Pollokshields properties may have private driveways, shared driveways, long driveway routes, garage parking or allocated parking in converted buildings. We plan the run carefully so the charger is positioned where the customer needs it while keeping the cable run neat and appropriate for the property.
Pollokshields customers often want a charger that works well without looking out of place on a stone-built or period property. Where the charger is fitted on a garage, side wall or driveway area, we consider cable visibility, tethered versus untethered design, smart tariff scheduling and whether the customer wants a more discreet or premium-looking unit. The right charger should suit the building as well as the vehicle.
