We supply and install a wide range of smart 7.4kW home EV chargers throughout Motherwell, with both tethered and untethered options available. If you already have a particular charger in mind, we can assess whether it is suitable for your vehicle and installation. If not, we can compare models from manufacturers including Ohme, Hypervolt, Zappi, Tesla, Zaptec, SyncEV, Deta, Autel, Indra, Andersen, Project EV and more, and explain the differences that matter in everyday use. Most modern electric vehicles use Type 2 AC charging at home, which means you'll have a choice of compatible chargers, rather than being restricted to the brand that manufactured the car as some initially believe. Before installation, we assess the existing electrical supply and consumer unit, available capacity, charger location and complete cable route. The installation is then electrically tested and the charger fully commissioned so it is ready to use.

We recently completed a 7.4kW smart home EV charger installation for a customer in Torrance Park, Motherwell, who had taken delivery of a new Jaecoo and wanted a home charging setup compatible with their new electricity tariff. The customer had been relying on public charging while trying to find a local EV charger installer. After assessing the property and discussing where they wanted the charger positioned, we planned an installation that placed the charging point neatly on the front of the house beside their parking area. The property's consumer unit was located inside the integral garage, which provided a suitable location for us to install a new dedicated mini consumer unit for the EV charging circuit. From there, we installed 3-core armoured EV cable from the garage to the required charger position at the front of the property, before mounting, connecting, testing and commissioning the new 7.4kW smart charger. The completed installation gives the customer a convenient charging point exactly where they wanted it and allows them to schedule charging around their cheaper overnight electricity tariff. Instead of relying on public chargers for regular charging, they can now plug their new EV in at home, and have it ready for the following day.
Public EV chargers around Motherwell and the wider Lanarkshire area can be useful for rapid charging, longer journeys and occasional top-ups, but having a dedicated charger at home removes the need to rely on public charging for normal everyday use. For customers using a compatible off-peak EV tariff, scheduled home charging can also make it more convenient and potentially cheaper to charge overnight and have the vehicle ready for the following morning.
We come across a variety of different situations - but rest assured, we've seen them all, and can decipher from the initial survey what's required, what can be done, and how we can do it.
We install home EV chargers at a wide range of properties throughout Motherwell and the wider ML1 area, from straightforward driveway installations to homes where the garage, electrical supply or preferred charging position is further away. The type of property itself is less important than having suitable private parking and a safe, practical route for the dedicated EV circuit. As experienced EV charger installers in Motherwell, we assess the existing consumer unit, available electrical capacity, proposed charger position and cable route before installation. This allows us to recommend the right approach for the property, whether that involves a simple wall-mounted 7.4kW charger, an integral or detached garage, a longer cable run, or additional EV electrical equipment.
The position of your parking space is one of the main things we consider when planning an EV charger installation in Motherwell. For a straightforward private driveway, the charger can often be mounted close to where the vehicle is normally parked, making it easy to connect without leaving unnecessary charging cable across paths or access routes. Where the parking position is further from the electrical supply, beside a garage, or in another part of the property, we can assess alternative cable routes and charger positions. Wall-mounted and post-mounted options are available where appropriate, and we agree the preferred location with the customer before installation, so the finished charger is convenient to use, neatly positioned and suitable for everyday home charging.
Some EV charger installations in Motherwell need additional electrical or cable-route planning before work begins. We assess the existing consumer unit, available supply capacity and the proposed charger position, as well as whether load management, a dedicated EV consumer unit or additional protective equipment may be required. Where the consumer unit is positioned away from the driveway or garage, we can assess suitable internal, under-floor or external cable routes to reach the preferred charging position. The aim is to solve these practical issues without making the installation unnecessarily complicated, while keeping the finished work safe, tidy and convenient to use.

The cost depends on both the charger selected and the installation required. A straightforward installation with a short cable route will normally involve less work than an installation requiring a longer run, additional electrical equipment, groundwork or a separate charger position. We provide a clear quotation after reviewing the installation requirements and can offer both good-value budget chargers and more advanced premium smart charging options.
We install a wide range of smart home EV chargers, including models from Ohme, Hypervolt, Zappi, Tesla, Zaptec, SyncEV, Rolec, Deta, Autel, APEX, Andersen, Project EV and other manufacturers within our current range. We can help compare suitable options based on your vehicle, budget, tethered or untethered preference, smart tariff requirements, app features, solar plans and the proposed charger position.
Not necessarily. We assess the existing consumer unit, electrical supply and available capacity before installation. If it's fine, we'll confirm this and present how we'd install everything on the proposal we send with the quotes - if not, we can recommend an upgrade, however this doesn't necessarily mean it's mandatory for an EV Charger installation. Depending on the property and existing equipment, the EV circuit may be connected using suitable protection within the existing setup or through dedicated EV equipment such as a separate mini consumer unit. We recommend the appropriate arrangement after assessing the installation rather than automatically assuming a full consumer unit replacement is required.
