As experienced EV charger installers serving Giffnock, we supply and install a wide range of smart 7kW home charging points, with both tethered and untethered chargers available from leading manufacturers.
Our current range includes options from Ohme, Hypervolt, Zappi, Tesla, Zaptec, SyncEV, Andersen, Project EV, Indra and other established manufacturers.
Most modern electric vehicles use Type 2 AC charging at home, so customers are normally free to choose a charger based on its features and suitability rather than simply matching the manufacturer of the car. We can compare options based on whether you want the cable permanently attached, your smart electricity tariff, app requirements, solar plans, appearance and budget.
Once the charger has been selected, we assess the electrical supply and consumer unit, agree the charger position, plan the dedicated EV circuit and cable route, carry out the installation, then complete the necessary electrical testing and charger commissioning.

We recently completed a home EV charger installation for a customer near Orchard Park in Giffnock, timed for the same day their new Tesla Model Y was being delivered. The customer was looking for an EV charger that would work well with the Tesla, while also being suitable for the smart EV electricity tariff they were due to move onto. They preferred a tethered charger, with the charging cable permanently attached and ready to plug into the car, so we talked through a number of suitable options before they chose a Sync EV tethered charger. The customer also had a particular position in mind for the charger, at the front-left side of the property beside the driveway where the new Tesla would normally be parked. The existing consumer unit and main electrical supply were positioned further across the front of the house, so we planned a route that allowed us to keep most of the new EV circuit hidden. We installed a dedicated mini consumer unit beside the existing consumer unit and main supply, along with CT monitoring for the EV charging system. From there, EV Ultra cable was routed beneath the front of the property before exiting at the position the customer had selected for the new charger. The Sync EV charger was then mounted, connected, electrically tested and fully commissioned, giving the customer a neat tethered charging point exactly where he wanted it beside the driveway. The timing worked particularly well, with the installation completed as the customer's new Tesla Model Y arrived. We also assisted with setting up the Tesla app, connecting and configuring the charger app, and preparing the smart charging settings for the new EV tariff. We then showed the customer how to operate and monitor the charger, so he was confident using it from day one. The customer was very pleased with the completed installation, particularly that we had been able to position the charger exactly where requested while keeping the cable route largely concealed. They now have a dedicated home charging setup ready for his Tesla, with the convenience of a tethered cable and smart overnight charging through his new electricity tariff.
Public EV charging around Giffnock and the wider south Glasgow area can be useful when travelling, shopping or needing a quicker top-up away from home. For regular charging, however, customers with suitable private parking can usually make EV ownership much more convenient with a dedicated home charger. The vehicle can simply be plugged in when you arrive home and charged while it is already parked. With a compatible smart electricity tariff, charging can also be scheduled around lower-cost overnight periods rather than relying on public charging for everyday use.
We come across a variety of different situations - but rest assured, we've seen them all, and can decipher from the initial survey what's required, what can be done, and how we can do it.
We install EV chargers at a wide range of styles of homes throughout Giffnock and G46, including straightforward driveway installations, and properties where the preferred charger position requires a more carefully planned cable route. We also have extensive experience working around integral garages, under-floor access, side parking positions and installations where the customer wants the charger placed somewhere specific for convenience or appearance. A recent Giffnock installation near Orchard Park involved routing EV Ultra cable beneath the front of the property so a tethered Sync EV charger could be positioned exactly where the customer's new Tesla Model Y would normally be parked. We assess the electrical supply, consumer unit, available capacity and intended charger position before deciding on the most suitable installation route.
The best charger position is usually determined by where the EV will actually be parked, and how easily the customer wants to connect it each day. For many homes in Giffnock, a charger beside a private driveway provides the simplest solution. Where the preferred position is further from the consumer unit, we can assess concealed, under-floor or external cable routes rather than moving the charger somewhere less convenient. We have experience installing both tethered and untethered chargers in positions selected around the customer's parking routine. Cable length, access routes and the appearance of the finished installation are all considered before the work begins, so the charger is practical to use and positioned where the customer actually wants it.
Choosing the right home EV charger for your Giffnock property comes down to how you intend to use it, where the vehicle is parked and which smart features are genuinely useful to you. Some customers prefer a clean untethered unit, whilst others want the convenience of a tethered charger with the cable always ready to plug into the car, as in a recent Giffnock installation where we fitted a tethered Sync EV charger for a customer with a new Tesla Model Y. We can also compare smart tariff compatibility, solar charging, app control, energy monitoring and different charger designs and price points. Because we install a range of leading brands, we are able to recommend suitable options rather than steering every customer towards the same model. The aim is a charging setup that works well with your vehicle, property and everyday routine.

The cost depends on the charger you choose and what is required to install it safely. A straightforward installation with a short cable route will generally involve less work than one requiring a longer run, additional electrical equipment, groundwork or a charger positioned further from the main supply. We provide a clear quotation before installation and can offer chargers at different price points, including good-value smart units as well as more advanced premium models.
A good EV charger installer should assess the complete electrical installation rather than simply mounting a charging point on the nearest wall. The existing supply, consumer unit, available capacity, cable route, charger position, EV protection and any load-management requirements should all be considered before work begins. Glasgow EV Chargers is OZEV-approved and NICEIC-certified, and we work with a wide range of leading smart charger manufacturers. We can assist with charger selection, electrical installation, testing, commissioning and smart setup.
