East Kilbride has a broad mix of new-build estates, detached family homes, semi-detached houses, townhouses, bungalows and homes with garages or larger driveways. Many properties are well suited to EV charger installation, but the best setup depends on driveway layout, consumer unit position, garage access and how the charger will be used for regular overnight charging.

East Kilbride has public charging around Civic Centre Car Park, East Kilbride Railway Station and local retail areas. These chargers can be useful for shopping trips or occasional top-ups, but families and commuters usually benefit more from a home EV charger that lets them charge overnight without working their day around public charger access.

As an example of one of our East Kilbride projects, we completed an EV charger installation in Stewartfield in December 2025 for a customer who wanted a Zappi 7.4kW home EV charger installed inside the garage of their home. The property had an integral double garage, and the customer wanted the charger mounted on the front internal wall so they could simply drive in, plug in and charge exactly as they normally parked their vehicle. During our survey, we found the property's consumer unit and main electrical supply were located within a cupboard beside the stairs, towards the middle of the house. Rather than asking the customer to compromise on the charger location, our team carefully assessed the property's construction and identified an alternative cable route through a roof void above the hallway. A new dedicated mini EV consumer unit was installed alongside the existing electrical equipment, providing a safe and compliant supply for the charger. From there, the 3-core armoured EV cable was routed through the ceiling void, across the hallway and into the space above the integral garage before being run neatly along the garage to the customer's preferred charger location near the garage door. One of our priorities on every installation is positioning the charger where it best suits the customer's everyday routine, rather than expecting them to change where or how they park. By carefully planning the cable route, we were able to install the Zappi exactly where it was wanted while keeping the installation neat, discreet and sympathetic to the property's interior. The installation was fully tested, commissioned and configured before handover, giving the customer a reliable 7.4kW home charging solution that blends in naturally in the garage and brings convenient overnight charging for years to come.
We come across a variety of different situations - but rest assured, we've seen them all, and can decipher from the initial survey what's required, what can be done, and how we can do it.

East Kilbride homes often have private driveways, garage parking, double driveways or off-street spaces, which makes home EV charging practical for many households. Where the charger needs to sit away from the consumer unit, we plan the cable run so it remains safe, tidy and convenient.
East Kilbride drivers often use their cars heavily for commuting, school runs and longer journeys across Glasgow and Lanarkshire, so charger reliability and simple overnight charging are usually key. We consider the customer’s mileage, vehicle type, driveway layout, energy tariff and whether they want a tethered charger for convenience or an untethered charger for a tidier appearance. For many households, a smart charger with easy scheduling is the most practical choice.
