Coatbridge has a varied housing mix, from older residential streets and traditional terraces to newer estates and family homes with driveway or garage access. Many properties are suitable for home EV charging, while others need more careful assessment around consumer unit capacity, external meter position, cable routing, driveway length and charger location. We regularly cover Coatbridge, Whifflet, Blairhill, Carnbroe, Kirkwood, Townhead, Gartsherrie, Old Monkland and nearby Airdrie and Bellshill areas.

Local EV Charger installation experience

Our EV Charger installations in Coatbridge cover a wide range of property types, from modern housing developments with private driveways, to older homes where the parking space may be separated from the house. Some installations can be completed with a short wall-mounted cable route, while others require underground cabling or a charger positioned on a dedicated post closer to the vehicle. Where trenching or a longer armoured-cable run is needed, the route can be planned around gardens, driveways and existing landscaping. We install practical tethered and untethered home chargers, with attention given to safe cable positioning, convenient access and a neat finished result.

Property types we install EV Chargers in

Coatbridge includes terraced homes, semi-detached houses, bungalows, newer estates, family properties with garages and homes with longer driveway layouts. Some EV charger installations are straightforward, while others need more planning around armoured cable, external cable runs, trenching or post-mounted charger positions where the vehicle is parked away from the house.

EV Charger installations for Flats, Driveways, Garages & Parking Spaces

Coatbridge installations can involve private driveways, shared access, long driveway routes, detached parking areas or post-mounted charger positions. Where the vehicle is parked away from the house, we can advise on armoured cable, trenching and safe external cable runs.

Home Charging vs. Local Public Charging

Coatbridge has public charging around Bank Street, Muiryhall Street Car Park, town-centre routes and nearby connections towards the M8 and M73. Public rapid chargers are useful when needed, but for customers with driveways, longer parking areas or space for a post-mounted charger, home charging is usually the better everyday solution.

Home Charging

Cheap overnight charging at home

By having a smart home ev charger installed, you benefit from far-cheaper charging - and can be as cheap as 5p/kWh on certain EV tariffs.

Wake up to a ready-to-use vehicle

Simply plug your electric vehicle into your home ev charger, and let it charge through the night whilst you sleep, at the cheapest rate possible!

Works with smart tariffs

Smart home EV Chargers work with smart energy tarrifs, allowing for significant savings on the cost of electricity to charge your electric vehicle.

Always available

Unlike public chargers, which can sometimes be at capacity, or have queues waiting - your home EV Charger will always be there for your use only - plug & charge instantly!

Public Charging

Useful for top-ups whilst out

Best-suited for occasional top-ups when you're out shopping, working, travelling or covering longer journeys.

Handy on longer journeys

Public chargers can be useful when you need a quick boost away from home, but they're not always convenient for regular day-to-day charging.

Expensive and Busy

You may need to plan around charger availability, parking time limits, queues, different apps and higher charging costs compared with home charging.

Can be complicated with apps

There are now many different public charging operators throughout the UK - a lot use their own app/interface for operation. This can become tiresome, having to download & setup different apps all of the time.

Zaptec Go Solar-Compatible EV Charger Installation in Coatbridge

We carried out a home EV charger installation in Carnbroe, Coatbridge for a customer who had recently taken delivery of a new Mercedes EQE and wanted a dedicated home charging solution as quickly as possible. Having already relied on public charging during the first few days of ownership, they were keen to begin charging at home instead. During our survey, we assessed the property's electrical installation, identified the location of the consumer unit and planned the most suitable cable route before preparing a quotation. The customer had also invested in a roof-mounted solar PV system and wanted an EV charger that would work alongside their renewable energy setup, allowing them to make greater use of the electricity they generated at home. After discussing the available options, the customer chose a Zaptec Go 7.4kW home EV charger, which offered the smart charging features and solar compatibility they were looking for when paired with a suitable energy management system. To support the solar installation, we also fitted the required CT clamp and configured the charger in accordance with the manufacturer's installation requirements. Our team routed the 3-core armoured EV cable neatly around the exterior of the property, fixing it at low level using cable cleats to achieve a tidy and discreet finish while complying with current installation standards. The cable supplied the new Zaptec Go at up to 7.4kW (approximately 32A single-phase), providing fast and reliable home charging for the customer's Mercedes EQE. Following installation, the charger was fully tested, commissioned and connected to the customer's preferred overnight EV electricity tariff before handover. We also assisted with the initial app setup, ensuring the customer could begin scheduling charging immediately. The completed installation provided exactly what the customer had requested—a Zaptec Go positioned beside the driveway, giving them the flexibility to charge using lower-cost overnight electricity while also making greater use of the energy generated by their home's solar PV system.

Choosing the right EV Charger

Coatbridge properties sometimes need chargers positioned away from the house, so the choice of charger has to work with the installation route as well as the car. If the unit is mounted on a post, garage or longer driveway route, cable management, weather exposure, tethered versus untethered design and app connectivity can all be important. We recommend options based on the vehicle, mileage, cable run and how the charger will be used every week.

Nearby Areas We Cover

We also install EV chargers across nearby areas including Airdrie, Bargeddie, Gartcosh, Bellshill, Uddingston, Viewpark and Glenboig, helping customers with everything from standard wall-mounted chargers to long driveway cable runs and post-mounted EV charger installations.
